All four universities from Armenia and Israel developed their own Graduate profile with Student Learning Outcomes (SLO).
SLOs were developed taking into account a new version of “Core Competences in Genetics for Health Professionals in Europe” published in 2010, and “Recommendation CM/Rec(2010)11 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the impact of genetics on the organisation of health care services and training of health professionals” also published in 2010. Importantly, developed SLOs take into account suggestions and needs of national stakeholders (students, clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors, administration of medical institutions and physicians, university administration, health care system authorities) which were analyzed by special questionnaires developed by partner country universities distributed among their national stakeholders.
The SLO of the undergraduate course of Medical Genetics (YSMU) is based on the reconstruction of the undergraduate medical curriculum into a core curriculum comprising essential knowledge, skill, and attitudes to be acquired by all medical students together with a series of special study modules, which will allow students to study medical genetics. The aim of this document is also to promote self-learning and improve the educational effectiveness of the undergraduate course of Medical Genetics and residency program of Clinical Genetics.
The SLOs of master program in genetic counselling (RAU, TAU, TIIT) and residency training program in clinical genetics (YSMU) emphasize integrated medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional attitudes that graduates of the programs will have acquired upon completion and will function effectively as genetic counsellors or clinical geneticists in provision of patient-centered care.
