During 31 August - 1 September, 2016, a special training program was organized by the Medical University of Graz and held at the Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia, for the specialists of the two Armenian universities

The training program was on so-called Graz model for integrative development and sustainability of education devoted to the broaden dissemination of the project results and further development of efficient ways of sustainability of education programs upon the end of the MedGen project.

The Graz model allows a qualitative analysis and evaluation by reflecting own processes/projects further potentials of improvements can be identified while similar processes can be compared to each other. Importantly, this model can support projects/development processes in their initial phase with structured and integrative planning.

Managing Director of the Biobank at the Medical University of Graz Dr. Karine Sargsyan introduced the Graz model, summarizing its main components, including:

holistic reflection,
evaluation of sustainability processes,
provision of support in the planning and further development of these processes,

and the following five principles as the core elements for integrative development processes:

leadership & vision,
social networking,
participation,
education & learning,
research integration.

Based on the recognition of the Graz Model by more than 365 universities, it was decided to consider its further application for the integrative development of the education programs in the frame of the MedGen project while the Graz model could be further exploited by the universities as an independent measure for the dissemination and sustainability purposes of newly developing programs.
